Why are lunar calendars not more widely used today?

Various cultures have used lunar calendars throughout history. However, they are not as widely used today as solar calendars, which are based on the Earth’s orbit around the sun. We emphasize the following few critical reasons for lunar calendars not widely being used today.

Shorter months

The Lunar Calendar is based on the cycles of the moon. The new moon day is the first day of the month while the full moon day is the last day of the month. Each lunar month has 29.53 days – a little less than a regular calendar which is in use today. so a lunar year is only 354 days which is 11 days lesser than the actual time it takes for the Earth to orbit around the sun.

Adaptability

Many societies all over the world have stopped following Lunar calendars due to the large cultural shift towards the Solar calendar to meet up with global standards.
