What is UPSC?
Union Public Service Commission(UPSC) is the central recruiting body in India consisting of 9 to11 members including the Chairman that carries out the task of recruitment and conducting examinations for All India Civil services (Group A & Group B).
When the UPSC was established?
UPSC was established on October 1, 1926, as Public Service Commission which was restructured as Federal Public Service Commission by the Government of India Act, 1935. Post Independence, it was renamed as Union Public Service Commission.

The president of India appoints the UPSC Chairman.
What is the tenure of the UPSC Chairman?
The maximum tenure of the UPSC Chairman is 6 years or till he/she becomes the age of 65 years.
