How many nephrons are present in each kidney? and the length and diameter of each

Nephrons are the filtering unit of the kidney that filters out waste from the blood and produce urine. Studies estimated that there are about 9,00,000 to 10,00,000 Nephrons present in each kidney of a human. The total nephrons in the kidneys of individuals range from 2,00,000 to 25,00,000 nephrons.

Each Nephron is composed of components, the Glomerulus, Bowman’s capsule, the Proximal convoluted tubule, the Loop of Henle, distal convoluted tubule, and the collecting duct. The length of each nephron is about 3 cm and the diameter is about 20-60 mm

The number of nephrons in the Kidney decline when kidneys are affected by diseases and ageing.
