Digestive Disorders: Causes & Symptoms

A digestive disorder is a disorder of the digestive system. Digestive disorder is one of the most common health conditions that affect millions of people around the world. The Digestive system involves organs such as Stomach, Pancreas, Intestine, Gall Bladder, Liver and Spleen. In this article, we will see the most common digestive disorders, their causes and symptoms.

Inflammation

The inflammation of the intestinal tract is the most common ailment due to bacterial or viral infections. The infections are also caused by parasites of the intestine like tapeworms, roundworms, hookworm, pinworm etc

Jaundice

Jaundice is the most common liver disorder that affects millions of people every year. If the liver is affected, skin and eyes turn yellow due to the deposit of bile pigments known as Bilirubin.

Diarrhoea

The abnormal frequency of bowel movement and increased liquidity of the faecal discharge is known as diarrhoea. Diarrhoea usually occurs due to infections, nutritional deficiencies, inadequate fibre intake and many other factors.

Indigestion

Indigestion occurs due to inadequate function of the digestive system. If the food is not digested correctly, it can cause a feeling of fullness, bloating, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Some of the common causes of indigestion are inadequate digestive enzyme secretion in the body, anxiety, food poisoning, overeating and spicy food.
