1. India’s Moon mission Chandrayaan-3 successful

  • Indian Space Agency, ISRO’s moon mission Chandrayaan-3 was declared successful with the soft landing of the lander Vikram on the moon’s surface.
  • The Vikram Lander of Chandrayaan-3 touched the surface of the moon exactly at 6:04 pm IST on 23 August 2023
  • India has become the first country to land on the Moon’s South Pole

2. Russia’s Wagner Group founder Prigozhin dead

  • Unconfirmed sources say that Wagner Group’s Chief Yevgeny Prigozhin died in a Plane crash on 23 August 2023
  • Yevgeny Prigozhin was a founder of Wagner Group, a private military company. He was also a close confidante of Vladimir Putin.
  • Wagner group, under the leadership of Prigozhin, took part in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
  • While in Ukraine, For reasons not known, he revolted against the Russian leadership of Vladimir Putin and decided to go back to fight the Russian Leadership but later he gave up this decision.
  • Fearing actions from Russia, he went into exile.

4. Pragyan Rover successfully came out of Vikran lander

  • Nearly 5 hours after the Vikram lander soft landed on the moon’s surface, Pragyan rover came out of it to explore the moon’s surface.
  • The Pragyan rover which is connected to the lander will remain functional for 14 days exploring and analyzing various parameters of the moon and communicating that to the lander.

5. India Joined the list of Elite countries having landed on the Moon.

  • With the successful landing of the Chandrayaan-3 Spacecraft on the Moon, India has become one of the list of Elite countries having landed on the Moon.
  • Until now, only Russia (Formerly Soviet Union), USA, China and India have landed on moon
