1. Birth Anniversary of Rani Lakshmibai

Prime Minister Modi paid tributes to Rani Lakshmibai on her birth anniversary. She was born on 19th November 1825 at Varanasi

She reigned as the Queen of Jhansi, the princely state in the Maratha Empire from 1843 to 1853.

She became the Rani of Jhansi at 14 by marriage to Maharaja Gangadhar Rao. After her husband’s demise, she fought bravely against the British annexation of her kingdom.

Rani Lakshmibai was martyred on 18 June 1858 at the age of 28.
