1) Chief Minister of Assam Mr Himanta Biswa Sarma launched Assam Millets Mission to meet the country’s export demand, besides raising the nutrition quotient and doubling the income of farmers

2) The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has appointed Pankaj R. Patel as the new Chairperson of its Board of Governors.

3) Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Kashi-Tamil Samagam in Varanasi. The month-long Kashi-Tamil Sangamam aims to re-establishing the age-old links between Tamil Nadu and Kashi, the two important pilgrimage centres of the country.

4) Meta, the parent company of Facebook appointed Sandhya Devanathan as the Vice President of Meta India.

5) A highly searched word on the Cambridge Dictionary website in 2022 “Homer” has been awarded the title of “Word of the Year”. The word ”homer” was searched for nearly 75,000 times during the first week of May 2022, when it was an answer in the word game – Wordle.

6) Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat inaugurated the Geo Smart India 2022 Summit in Hyderabad. GeoSmart India is the largest conference of Geospatial experts across the globe that reflects the collective and shared vision of the Indian geospatial community.

7) A three-day International Tourism Mart began in Aizawl, Mizoram.
It is jointly organized by the Ministry of Tourism and the State Tourism Department.
The objective of International Tourism Mart 2022 is to highlight tourism potential of the Northeast region in domestic and international markets.

8) Former India basketball captain and Arjuna awardee Ghulam Abbas Muntasir passed away at the age of 80.
A former Indian men’s team captain, Moontasir led India in 1969 and 1975 Asian Basketball Championships and was selected in the Asian All-Star team in 1970.

9) As a First in India, six women officers have been selected for the prestigious Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), the only competitive course within the Indian Army that paves the way for appointments to higher formations in the force.

10) India won the Leadership in Family Planning (EXCELL) Awards-2022 in the ‘country category’ at the International Conference on Family Planning held in Thailand’s Pattaya.

11) The Centre Government has appointed Financial Services Secretary Vivek Joshi as a director on the central board of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Joshi took charge as Secretary, the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance on November 1, 2022.
