Assam Scraps Class 10 Board Exams, Merge SEBA, AHSEC
Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that the Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) will not conduct Class 10 (HSLC) board exams from the next year. As per the official announcement, from now on, the madhyamik level exams will be conducted as a class examination.
From Next year, Instead of board exams, Classroom level examinations will be conducted for Class 10 and the results will be declared accordingly. However, Assam Higher Secondary exams i.e. Class 12 Board Examinations will be conducted as usual.
This decision to abolish board exams for Class 10 comes as the officials consider that the Class 10 exams will not continue to be that important in accord with the upcoming National Education Policy. The minister also informed that soon the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) and the SEBA will be merged.
